Flying With New Wings
Published on December 8, 2024 By Sabin
I wrote the lyrics to this on November 23, 2022 to try and explain what it felt like to be waking up as I was in the way I was. It’s about the feeling of needing to expand but being bound by something so strongly that it hurts. “Pressed against the open sky” and needing to expand in spite of it.
We had just returned from a family road trip to Arizona and back after separating for a month. An acoustic on rhythm, electric guitar, and flute weaving within and around each other make up the arrangement behind my voice on this one.
Lyrics
(Ooooh)
The cirrus clouds and jet streams
Undulate for attention of my eyes
The sun so close it burns
Expansion hurts I yearn
Expansion hurts
Expansion hurts I yearn
I am pressed against the open sky
Expanding out and reaching past the lies
I feel raised beyond this world and desire
To live with attention from her eyes
In devotion without sacrifice
The cirrus clouds and jet streams
Undulate for attention of my eyes
The sun so close it burns
Expansion hurts I yearn
Expansion hurts
Expansion hurts I yearn
