Saving Me

The water, drowning, island shores are all common themes in the mental/emotional work that I do. This song pulls on many of those themes as an ode to Danielle. Who, over the years, has kept reaching in and pulling me out of the swirling tides in trying to get me ashore and coherent so healing could begin. Despite the psychic damage it caused her …
The song comes after Flying With New Wings as a representation of recovering from the initial crash into the waters of trying out such fragile wings. Gravity and waves and untended, tangled lines. Salvation at the end.
Lyrics
It hasn’t been easy has it
to heal this hurt ourselves.
All our tears, the pain, the panic,
and darkness that you delved
saving me.
It could only be you.
Always it was you,
saving me.
I never meant to bring you down.
That’s just the way it was.
I didn’t mean for you to drown
while gracing me with love,
saving me.
It could only be you.
Always it was you,
saving me.
A shipwrecked fool y0u found me
washed ashore and gone, gone, gone.
Mending nets untended,
and frightened all alone, alone.
If there’s anything that I want more
than to see you shine so high,
it’s to be drawn to your shores
like the moon pulls on the tides,
saving me.
It could only be you.
Always it was you
saving me.
Always it was you.
Saving me.
It could only be you.
Saving me.
Saving me.
It’s gotta be you.
