First of April end of day check in. How are you all?

I’ve been ruminating all day, and I think I’m just going to relegate today to a general checking in rather than on any kind of topic. How are all of you? It’s Tuesday, April 1st at about 7 p.m. I expected to get paid today, but have not, so there’s not a lot going on. I’d rather be roaming about this evening in the burgeoning spring air, but instead I’m hanging out at home. Which isn’t a bad thing. I get frazzled if there’s too much going on, and that’s been the case the past few days, really.
On Sunday, my interview on the Jaden Show went live, which was mindblowing, honestly. I’d love you to check it out, if you can. Jaden’s a great interviewer, and we had a good conversation about a lot of things: spirituality, being-in-the-world, mental health, and my music. I also released my album on CD — including a home-brewed “Bootleg” limited edition — one of which I sold immediately after announcing it. And in my work life, the co-op is incredibly busy this month with the annual meeting and a bunch of administrative things we’ve doing, so my work-mind is also engaged more than I’ve been used to in a long time.
It’s been over two years since I could handle even a small set of responsibilities. It feels good to be able to stand — albeit a little wobbily — after the stumbling. It’s been a lot of difficult and conscious work to destroy old habits and thought patterns, and it’s taken two sittings with Shipibo Shaman in the Amazon, 2mg of Aripiprazole each day, and a lot of effort from loved ones, but I’m finally becoming myself again.

It was a year ago this month that I started earnestly recording Where’ve You Been? as the 2024 sun emerged and the snow disappeared and it dawned on me I had an album’s worth of material worth working with. You can see the created date in this screenshot, though Motherless Child should be closer to April/May, but I lost the original file so had to recreate it from a backup copy. Other than that, this is the order the songs were first conceived in.
I’ve also been working on a new musical project, which is slowly, slowly beginning to take form. I’m starting with thematic ideas, notes, and the “what” of it, and today I got to do some sound sculpting with the guitar. More details as they emerge, but here are some photos of my progress in the studio today (and yesterday).

As always, I hope this finds you all well and able to find yourselves well, hale, and with as much love as possible in this world. I’m with you. 🐇 🙏🏻🎶💜
